Man United boosted as top managerial target rejects La Liga return

Manchester United managerial target Jose Mourinho is believed to have rejected the chance to return to Spain, according to reports from the Express.

Valencia decided to sack Gary Neville earlier this week after only four months in charge, with the former Chelsea boss linked with the now vacant role.

Neville was unable to help the Spanish outfits improve their performance as he only managed to pick up three wins from 16 league matches since his arrival in December.

However, a source close to Mourinho has revealed that he isn’t interested in a return to the La Liga following a spell at Real Madrid from 2010-2013.

“Jose does not want to return to Spain at the moment. He feels that his future lies elsewhere,” they said.

The Portuguese boss is believed to be on his way to Old Trafford, with speculation that he has already agreed a verbal agreement to replace current manager Louis van Gaal in the summer.

Valencia are also being linked with Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini given that he is set to leave the Ethiad at the end of the season to make room for the arrival of Pep Guardiola.
