Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal is confident that £36million signing Anthony Martial will succeed at Old Trafford, according to reports from the Daily Star.
The Red Devils secured the French striker on transfer deadline day to help their struggling attack, with the club only scoring three goals in their first four games.
However, the capture of Martial from AS Monaco has shocked many fans as well as the media, with the 19-year-old still relatively untested for a player that cost £36million.
The fee could reportedly rise to a massive £58million depending on his performances, but Van Gaal claims that he is worth it after scouting him since the end of last season.
“Anthony is a naturally talented, young, multi-functional forward with great potential,” he stated.
“We have been watching him for a while now and he has developed immensely during his time at AS Monaco.”
Man United have once again spent heavily in the transfer market, securing Morgan Schneiderlin, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Memphis Depay, Matteo Darmian, and Sergio Romero earlier in the summer.
And star goalkeeper David de Gea’s expected £29million move to Real Madrid collapsed in the last minute, meaning that the Spain international is still an option between the post for Van Gaal for at least another year.
