Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has confirmed that David de Gea will not feature in the Europa League second-leg clash against Midtjylland tonight, Skysports reports.
The 25-year-old picked up a knee injury in the warm-up ahead of the first leg and was also unable to feature in 3-0 FA Cup victory over Shrewsbury.
Sergio Romero, who played in the previous match, is expected to retain his place between the sticks as United go into the game with a 2-1 deficit.
When Van Gaal was asked on the chances of the Spanish international returning in goal, he revealed that De Gea will not play a part in the fixture.
“I was hoping for that but he shall not be involved, that is certain,” he said.
However, the Red Devils will be boosted by the return of Marcos Rojo, with the Argentina international set to start the match on the bench.
Apart from De Gea, the club will also be without key man Wayne Rooney as their captain is expected to be out of action until April.
