Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has been offered a job to become technical director for the Dutch Football Association, Independent reports.
The 64-year-old is heavily tipped to leave Old Trafford in the summer amid speculation that former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is set to be appointed in his place.
His job is under threat as United could once again be without Champions League football as they are currently sitting fifth on the Premier League table.
However, they are only behind fourth place side Manchester City by one point, but are level with West Ham United who are also pushing for a European spot.
With the option to return to the Netherlands national team setup and oversee the Dutch football centre of excellence, Van Gaal’s departure could pave way for the arrival of Mourinho this summer.
The Portuguese boss is said to have already reached a verbal agreement with the Red Devils over his decision to take the reins at the club.
