Man United boss happy with squad commitment following FA Cup win

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has revealed his delight after his side managed to overcome Shrewsbury 3-0 in the FA Cup.

His side have now booked a place in the quarter finals and will face West Ham United at Old Trafford as they look to pick up silverware.

The Hammers have been on great form this season, recently beating Blackburn in the FA Cup 5-1 and are only a point behind United on the Premier League table.

Goals from Chris Smalling, Juan Mata, and Jesse Lingard were enough to ensure progression, with the win being seen as a huge boost for Van Gaal.

The Dutchman praised his side’s commitment as well as their performance, especially after suffering two consecutive losses ahead of the fixture.

“I am very pleased because the performance was very good,” he told Skysports.

“I said at half-time to my players that they were very committed. They performed our game-plan very well and the consequence was we were ahead at half-time.”

They will now face Midtjylland in the second leg of the Europa League on Thursday as they look to overturn their 2-1 away defeat last week.
