Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal is now expected to win the Premier League if he wants to ensure his job as manager is safe, Daily Star reports.
The 64-year-old recently failed to lead his team into the Champions League round of 16 after losing their must win game against Wolfsburg in midweek.
United will now have to take part in the Europa League, an outcome that has led to a majority of the fans calling for Van Gaal to be sacked before his contract expires.
In addition to that, the £250million he spent on players since his arrival back in the summer of 2014 seems to have backfired, causing further pressure on the Dutchman.
His boring style of play has been heavily criticised given that the team has been struggling to find the back of the net and are often picking up goalless draws.
However, despite their huge decline in form, the Red Devils see themselves sitting fourth on the Premier League table, only three points behind leaders Manchester City.
Van Gaal will see his deal at Old Trafford expire in 2017, but unless he can get the best out of his players real soon, his days at the club could now be numbered.
