Manchester United are leading the chase to sign Villarreal defender Eric Bailly this summer and are willing to part with £30 million to land the centre-half according to The Guardian.
The Red Devils have hired Jose Mourinho and are expected to back the former Chelsea boss with a substantial kitty this summer in an effort to get the club fighting for major silverware once more.
The centre of defence has been one area of concern, with Daley Blind playing out of position for most of the 2015-16 campaign to cover at the heart of the side’s rearguard.
Bailly has been an impressive performer for Villarreal and was a key reason that the El Madrigal outfit qualified for next season’s Champions League.
The Ivory Coast international was brought to the Spanish club in January 2015 as a replacement for Gabriel, who joined Arsenal.
The report suggests that United are confident of landing Bailly and feel he is worth a sizeable fee.
