Manchester United are considering the idea of including Jonny Evans in a deal to try and lure Everton star Seamus Coleman to the club, according to reports from the Daily Star.
United boss Louis van Gaal is keen to add a right-back into his squad following the failure to land both Nathaniel Clyne and Dani Alves this summer.
Clyne completed a switch to league rivals Liverpool while Alves decided to sign a new extension with La Liga champions Barcelona.
The Toffees have made it clear that they are not open to selling Coleman, but Van Gaal hopes including his centre-back, who has been targeted by the Merseyside club, into the deal could persuade them otherwise.
Evans only has a year left on his deal at Old Trafford and is yet to be offered an extension, a hint that he may not be part of his manager’s plans going into the upcoming campaign.
To make matters worse, the Red Devils have already extended the contract for a number of centre-backs lately, with Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, Paddy McNair, and Tyler Blackett all receiving new deals.
