Man United consider move for West Ham star to fill defensive void

Manchester United are considering a move to sign West Ham United star Aaron Cresswell to replace Luke Shaw, according to The Sun, as reported by the Express.

The 20-year-old United left-back suffered a double fracture to his right leg during the 2-1 defeat to PSV Eindhoven, ruling him out for at least nine months.

Manager Louis van Gaal is looking to lure the Hammers man to Old Trafford during the January window despite already having adequate back-up.

Cresswell, who has also attracted interest from Chelsea as well as Manchester City in the past, could now be the subject of a £15million bid from the Red Devils.

However, Van Gaal admitted that the injury to Shaw has been a big blow to his plans after earlier revealing that this will be his season.

“For us it is a big loss, because I said in advance it shall be the season of Luke Shaw, and now it is nearly finished already,” he said.

United have yet to solve their current defensive problems as they were once again exposed during their recent 3-2 victory over Southampton.
