Manchester United look to end their six month long chase for Juventus star Arturo Vidal by attempting to use Juan Mata in a swap deal to finally sign one of their top targets, Mirror reports.
The 27-year-old is currently under-fire from the Serie A club for an incident involving the midfielder who was having a night out ahead of the vital clash with Roma and is said to have been fined for about £80,000.
Mata could be used to lure the Italian giants to consider a swap deal which could see the Spanish playmaker, who is finding it hard to break into the first team after the signings of Angel Di Maria and Radamel Falcao.
Wayne Rooney has been moved back to play the number 10 role, the same position preferred by the former Chelsea man, meaning his place in the squad is under huge jeopardy.
Juventus have already benched Vidal twice out of six matches, tipping that a move could once again be on the table with the January window edging closer.
