Man United defender planning to take free-kicks instead of Di Maria and Van Persie

Manchester United defender Tyler Blackett has expressed his desire to take free-kicks for the club, Metro reports.

The young United ace only saw first-team action this season, but is already looking to make a mark at Old Trafford by taking set-pieces for his side.

Blackett seems to be warning the United trio of Angel di Maria, Wayne Rooney, and Robin van Persie that he is looking to be the main free-kick taker for the Red Devils in the nearby future.

“Hopefully further in the season you’ll see me up there [taking free-kicks],” he stated.

“I’d certainly be happy to take the opportunity if it came up.”

The 20-year-old has scored a few efforts for the United youth side in the past, most notably a thunderbolt in the FA Youth Cup against Swansea.

Now Blackett has some of the world’s best free-kick takers in front of him, and is grateful to watch and learn before one day earning his opportunity.
