Manchester United ace Phil Jones has returned to full training but is unlikely to be fit for their clash against Liverpool on Saturday, according to reports from the Mirror.
Jones has been struggling with a thigh problem ever since the Red Devils’ pre-season tour, and will not be included by Louis van Gaal despite returning to Carrington for training.
Doctors revealed that the England international was suffering from thrombosis, but he has fully recovered and is set to be deployed alongside Chris Smalling at centre-back in the near future.
Daley Blind is currently Smalling’s partner in the heart of defence, but the versatile Netherlands international is naturally a defensive midfielder and, despite three clean sheets, was very easily exposed by Bafetimbi Gomis against Swansea City.
Jones will therefore be confident of regaining his place, with the League Cup tie against Ipswich Town the perfect opportunity to return to action.
The 23-year-old made 24 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring no goals.
