Man United defender struggling to be fit for key Tottenham clash

Key Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo is struggling to be fit in time to face Tottenham tomorrow and could well miss the critical clash at Old Trafford due to a minor injury.

The Argentina international picked up a slight groin strain in the FA Cup defeat to Arsenal on Monday night and as such Louis van Gaal has revealed that the South American is in threat of missing the visit of Mauricio Pochettino’s men.

“Rojo is a little bit injured,” the Dutch coach is quoted as saying by MUTV.

“You have to take care of the health of the players. He has a minor problem. Maybe I’ll take him out of the game against Tottenham Hotspur, but I have to decide.”

Rojo featured at centre-half against the Gunners and has also slotted in at left-back this term when Luke Shaw has not been available due to injury.

With Jonny Evans suspended, Van Gaal has some key decisions to make at the back to stop hotshot Spurs forward Harry Kane.

United are currently three points ahead of Tottenham in the race for a top-four finish, with the result tomorrow sure to have a major bearing on both teams’ hopes of Champions League qualification.
