Manchester United could make another attempt at signing Sergio Ramos amid speculation that the Real Madrid star is yet to agree a new deal, according to reports from the Express.
The 29-year-old was heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer despite manager Rafa Benitez earlier confirming that he was not leaving.
United were even willing to allow a swap deal which would see them lose Real target David de Gea if Ramos decided to move in the opposite direction.
All hopes of signing the centre-back looks to have been lost after Spanish paper Marca revealed that a new contract has been agreed upon.
However, another publication in Spain, AS, played down the rumours and has now stated that the Spain international is yet to accept the terms of a new deal, once again alerting United boss Louis van Gaal.
It is believed that the La Liga giants are only open to paying the defender an annual salary of £6million-a-year, but Ramos is instead demanding wages of around the £7million region.
