Manchester United target Aymeric Laporte is said to have reached an agreement to join Barcelona from current club Athletic Bilbao, according to reports from the Mirror.
The 21-year-old was constantly linked with a move to Old Trafford and was also being tracked by a host of European elites.
He is regarded as one of the best young defensive prospects at the moment as manager Louis van Gaal is keen to reinforce his backline.
His two main centre-backs are now Chris Smalling and versatile midfielder Daley Blind, but his intentions of signing a world class defender has been clear.
Van Gaal missed out on Sergio Ramos during the summer despite spending almost the whole window trying to lure him to the Premier League.
However, they could now fail in their pursuit of Laporte after it seems that he may be making a switch to join the La Liga champions at the end of the current campaign.
