Man United defensive target set to agree terms with club

Manchester United have been halted in their chase for Kalidou Koulibaly after his agent revealed that he is close to agreeing a contract extension at Napoli, Express reports.

The 24-year-old is also being linked with Everton, but the Serie A giants are keen to ensure that he snubs interest from the Premier League.

His agent, Bruno Satin, has admitted that he is currently in talks with the club’s sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli about renewing his contract.

“I am still in contact with sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli,” he told Radio station Crc.

“If I understood things, he’s thinking about reinforcing the team with several big players.

“A renewal? We’re working on it, but it’s going to take longer than two days.”

The centre-back has been in great form for the Naples-based side this season as they look to put an end to Juventus’ amazing title run, after they managed to win it three consecutive times.

Napoli are currently sitting second on the table, three points behind Juve, as they still have eight matches left to overtake their opponents before the end of the season.

The Senegal international has already featured 35 times in all competitions for his side this term, so far managing to provide two assists in the process.
