Manchester United are looking to make a swoop for Leicester City star Kasper Schmeichel if David de Gea leaves to Real Madrid, according to reports from The Sun.
The Red Devils have been linked with several goalkeepers amid Real’s interest in De Gea, with Inter Milan ace Samir Handanovic also on their radar.
However, it seems that United assistant manager Ryan Giggs is keen on bringing over the son of former teammate Peter Schmeichel to Old Trafford, with Kasper enjoying an incredible campaign with Leicester this season.
The Foxes are level on points with Arsenal at the top of the table, and have a slight chance at winning the Premier League title after just being promoted last term.
But with De Gea set to be a subject of another bid from Real, Schmeichel could be tempted to play for his father’s former club next season to follow in his footsteps.
Schmeichel, 29, has made 23 appearances in all competitions this season, keeping six clean sheets.
