Man United face transfer blow as another Dortmund star set to confirm stay

Manchester United may once again be dealt a blow in their chase for a midfielder after Ilkay Gundogan looks ready to sign a new deal with Borussia Dortmund, according to reports from the Express.

The 24-year-old has been continuously linked with United in the previous transfer windows, with the club ready to use Dortmund’s struggling form to lure him away from the Bundesliga.

However, Gundogan, along with his teammates, have seen a rise in their performance and have now moved out of the relegation zone into 12th place.

With the entire team beginning to find their form, the German midfielder is now being tipped to extend his stay at the Westfalenstadion amidst reports that he was ready for a switch to Old Trafford.

It looks as though Marco Reus’ decision to pen a new deal has encouraged him to also commit his future to the club.

“I don’t want to say anything about it, things are looking good,” he said.

“Marco’s signature has made us all euphoric.”

United boss Louis van Gaal was very keen on bringing Reus to the Premier League in the summer, but he may now lose out on another one of his targets if the central midfielder decides to follow suit.
