Manchester United missed out on the possible signing of Olympiakos star Omar Elabdellaoui during the January window and may reconsider a move in the summer, Express reports.
The 24-year-old was offered to manager Louis van Gaal as a possible addition into the squad given the high number of injury concerns in his back line.
Matteo Darmian and Phil Jones are close to making their return to the first team, but Luke Shaw, Marcos Rojo, Antonio Valencia, and Ashley Young are all still sidelined.
United were hoping to agree a £2.5million loan deal for Elabdellaoui last month after his agent Jim Solbakken hinted at a possible transfer.
However, with the Van Gaal failing to reach an agreement over his potential move from the Greece top flight on deadline day, Solbakken admitted that a summer deal could still be considered.
“He is a home grown UK player and wants to play there in the future. We’ll see what happens this coming summer,” he said.
The Norway international right-back has already featured 21 times in all competitions for his side this past term, but has so far been unable to score or assist a single goal.
