Man United forced to reconsider move for Clyne alternative

Manchester United are unwilling to pay the £7.1million fee for Paris Saint-Germain star Gregory van der Wiel, according to reports from the Metro.

The 27-year-old was one of the right-back candidates manager Louis van Gaal has been keeping an eye on and could now make a move for the player after failing to secure two other targets.

Nathaniel Clyne has now completed a move to league rivals Liverpool while Dani Alves decided to sign an extension despite being heavily linked with an exit.

PSG have placed a £7.1million price tag on the Netherlands international, but with only a year left on his deal, United are looking to secure his services for a lowered fee.

The Ligue 1 champions are believed to already be open to his departure, but any talks have now been put on hold due to the disagreement in his valuation.

Van Der Wiel has already worked with Van Gaal during his time in the national team and has been a regular feature for his club this past season, making 41 appearances in all competitions.
