Manchester United’s pursuit of Borussia Dortmund’s Mats Hummels has received a huge boost with the Bundesliga outfit open to selling their prized asset, that is according to the Daily Star.
Louis van Gaal was hoping to strengthen United’s defensive options considerably during the summer, however, Marcos Rojo’s arrival was the only defender the Dutchman managed to bring in, as he looked to replace the gaps left by Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic.

Hummels’ stock has continued to rise over recent seasons, with the likes of United’s Premier League rivals Arsenal being linked with a move for the German international, and Dortmund are now ready to cash in on their World Cup winner with van Gaal ready to bid £25million for the centre-back.
Hummels has made 21 appearances in all competitions for Jurgen Klopp’s side this season, a season that, until recently, saw the former Bundesliga winners fighting relegation.
