Manchester United have been boosted in their chase to sign Arsenal target Edinson Cavani after his father hinted at a possible move to Old Trafford, Sport5 reports.
The 29-year-old Paris Saint-Germain star was constantly linked with an exit over the past few months amid speculation that he was unhappy at his role under manager Laurent Blanc.
He is said to be frustrated at being moved onto the wings in order to accommodate striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic down the middle.
The Gunners were heavily tipped to complete a deal for the Uruguay international last summer, but was eventually priced out of a possible deal.
His father, Luis Cavani, admitted that Ibrahimovic is not willing to change his position, a factor that is affecting his son as he hopes to see him move to another club.
“Zlatan is not willing to play on the wings,” he said.
“So they gave up on Edinson. PSG themselves. It will be difficult for Edinson in the Champions League this season.
“Edinson is suffering at PSG. If they let him play as the number nine he will be happy.
“I would like to see him play for Real Madrid, Manchester United or Juventus.”
Cavani, who is valued at about £35million, started on the bench for PSG last night in the 2-1 Champions League round of 16 first-leg win over Chelsea, with the striker coming on in the 73rd minute before netting the winner four minutes later.
