Manchester United had a £14million bid for Napoli star Kalidou Koulibaly rejected in the January transfer window, according to reports from Calciomercato.
The Red Devils were heavily linked with several defenders last month, as manager Louis van Gaal plans to find an adequate partner for star centre-back Chris Smalling.
And one of their targets was Partenopei ace Koulibaly, who has become one of the stand-out defenders in the Calcio Serie A this season in Napoli’s challenge for the title.
It has been confirmed that United submitted a £14million offer to convince the Italian club to sell the 24-year-old, but the proposal was turned down with Napoli hoping to extend Koulibaly’s contract.
Koulibaly has made 29 appearances in all competitions this season, supplying two assists but has no goals.
