Manchester United have been halted in their chase for Inter Milan star Jeison Murillo after he revealed his intentions to remain in Italy, Express reports.
The 23-year-old is said have emerged as a top transfer target for United-linked manager Jose Mourinho, who is believed to be in line to replace Louis van Gaal in the summer.
However, the centre-back has come out to dismiss the possibility of leaving Inter given that he is fully focused on his career with the Serie A giants.
“I have a five-year contract and my focus must be solely on Inter and what the team have to do in order to give 100 per cent,” he told Inter Channel.
“I was delighted when I heard Inter were interested in me.
“I could have joined sooner but the situation wasn’t easy at Granada and they wanted to keep me until the end of the season.
“I’m pleased the fans are asking me to stay.”
Murillo was believed to be a £28million target for United should they appoint Mourinho, but with the former Chelsea boss still not confirmed for the role, a move for his services is looking rather unlikely.
Van Gaal has managed to pick up a number of positive results in recent weeks, with a 1-0 victory over Everton this past weekend keeping them in the battle for a top four finish.
The Red Devils are currently only one point behind fourth place side Manchester City and still have seven league matches left to play before the end of the campaign.
