Manchester United have seen their £15million offer for Saul Niguez rejected by Atletico Madrid, according to reports from the Daily Star.
The 21-year-old emerged as a target for manager Louis van Gaal as he looks to add more creativity into his team’s struggling attack.
Van Gaal recently saw his team held back for over ninety minutes in the FA Cup Third round against Sheffield United before Wayne Rooney scored the winning penalty in injury time.
However, despite Saul struggling to hold down a regular role in the first team under Atletico boss Diego Simeone, the club are still unwilling to let him leave.
Apart from the Red Devils, Premier League rivals Arsenal and Liverpool have also been monitoring his situation as they plot a possible January move for his services.
The midfielder started 13 matches in all competitions this term, featuring another seven times from the bench, so far scoring five goals while providing another one assist.
