Bayern Munich have rejected a massive £70million Manchester United bid for Thomas Muller, according to reports from the Daily Star.
After the signing of Bastian Schweinsteiger from Bayern, United were hoping that Muller would follow his Germany international team-mate to Old Trafford this summer.
However, the heavily-backed £69.5million (€100m) offer was turned down by the Bavarian hierarchy, with the Bundesliga side unwilling to sell any more of their star players this summer.
This is therefore set to force Man United manager Louis van Gaal to look elsewhere for an attacker, with the likes of Paris Saint-Germian star Edinson Cavani and Real Madrid ace Karim Benzema also on the Red Devils’ radar.
Bayern’s Robert Lewandowski has also been linked with a switch to Manchester, but after Bayern’s stance on Muller it is unlikely they can prize the Poland striker away just after a year playing in the Allianz Arena.
Muller scored 21 goals out of 48 appearances in all competitions last season.
