Manchester United’s hopes that they could sign Tottenham Hotspur star Hugo Lloris for just £14million this summer has been debunked, according to the Metro.
However, it is Man United that are heavily targeting the France international amid rumours that star goalkeeper David de Gea could leave to Real Madrid in the summer.
And the Red Devils thought their chances were boosted by the revelation that Lloris has a £14million release clause that will allow him to join any club in the Champions League if Spurs fail to qualify once again.
The information was divulged by French correspondent Julie Laurens during an Arsenal Supports Trust meeting on Monday, which would have alerted the United hierarchy of a possible summer move for Lloris.
But unfortunately for Man United, it seems that the news is inaccurate, and if they want to persuade the shot-stopper to join them they will need to pay more than the aforementioned £14million.
The 28-year-old has been one of the Lilywhites’ best players since joining the club from Lyon back in 2012, making 95 appearances.
French Journalist Julien Laurens says Lloris has a €20m release-clause for any Champions League club should Tottenham not qualify themselve…
