Manchester United are considering a move to sign Bayern Munich target Shkodran Mustafi from Valencia, according to reports from the Express.
The 23-year-old emerged as a youth prospect from Everton, but failed to earn a place in the senior squad, eventually joining Sampdoria back in 2012 before his switch to the La Liga in 2014.
He is now being tipped for a bright future after impressive at club level and also played a part as Germany won the World Cup last year.
United boss Louis van Gaal is still keen on reinforcing his backline with another centre-back given that midfielder Daley Blind is still occupying the role.
Apart from the mentioned clubs, Barcelona and Real Madrid are also said to have been considering a move for the defender during the previous summer window, but were denied the chance to sign him by Valencia.
Mustafi featured a total of 36 times in all competitions for his side last term, scoring four goals while providing a further one assist and is expected to cost around the £22million region.
