Man United join Chelsea in tussle for 33-capped international

Manchester United gaffer Louis van Gaal is hoping to pip Chelsea to the signing of Fiorentina’s Juan Cuadrado this month, reports the Metro.

The west London-based club have been linked with a move for the Colombian international throughout this January transfer window, however, the Red Devils have now reportedly lodged a £21.6million bid – this deal is also said to have been rejected, as it falls short of the 26-year-old’s £26.8million release fee clause.

In order to sweeten the potential deal for Cuadrado, who impressed in his five appearances during last summer’s World Cup, United are believed to have also offered Adnan Januzaj on loan for the rest of the season.

Jose Mourinho is hoping to free up space for the former Udinese and Lecce, who has been deployed all across the frontline this season, by offloading German international Andre Schurrle who is attracting interest from Bundesliga outfits Borussia Dortmund and Wolfsburg.
