Manchester United legend Ruud Van Nistelrooy has admitted that he is ready to see Leicester City star Jamie Vardy break his record, Express reports.
The 28-year-old is currently level with the former United striker when he scored 10 goals in 10 consecutive games, his latest coming in the 3-0 win over Newcastle United at the weekend.
He will now face the Red Devils this Saturday as a goal in the match could see him overtake the Dutch legend into the record books.
Van Nistelrooy also revealed that he sent a message of support to the Foxes striker, but added that he hopes his former club come away with a 3-1 victory.
“I sent him a message of support last weekend on social media and I really meant it,” he said.
“He can score one on Saturday, in fact I hope he does but hopefully United score three and win 3-1. But no, seriously, if he does it, I’ll be delighted for him.”
Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri has led his team right to the top of the Premier League table at the moment, registering eight wins from his past 14 matches in the competition.
Vardy also played a major role in helping his manager reach the squad’s current position, scoring 13 goals from his previous 13 appearances.
