Former Manchester United captain Gary Neville believes Angel Di Maria will be key for his side when they travel to Liverpool this weekend, Daily Star reports.
The 27-year-old broke the British transfer record when he moved from Real Madrid for £59.7million last summer, but has failed to live up to expectations after a nervy campaign so far.
Despite being handed 19 Premier League starts, he has only managed to score four goals, with the winger said to be unsettled with life in Manchester.
Di Maria is now being linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain, with the Ligue 1 side having been interested in his services before his move to Old Trafford.
However, Neville revealed that he would pick the Argentina international for the match against the Reds, as he could be key to Louis van Gaal’s attack.
“I think Valencia, Smalling, Jones, Fellaini, Carrick, Herrera, Young and Rooney will all play,” he said.
“The big decision is Di Maria or Mata. I would go with Di Maria for pace.
“I think they will need to play on the counter attack and also match the speed of Moreno and Coutinho (on the Liverpool left).”
The rival clubs will both be battling for a Champions League spot ahead of next season, with only two points separating United in fourth and Liverpool in fifth.
