New Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew has praised Manchester United loanee Wilfried Zaha after his 20 minute performance against Tottenham Hotspur and even tipped him to be a major part in his team’s revival, Express reports.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side went 1-0 up early in the second half courtesy of a goal from on-form Harry Kane, but a 69th minute penalty levelled the scoring before Jason Puncheon’s strike rewarded his side with all three points.
Pardew said: “I wouldn’t say that he has been lost but when you go to Manchester United it is very, very difficult.
“He has come out on loan and perhaps it has not gone as well as he would have liked.”
“He needs to get that confidence back, so we need to build on that cameo. I really like him, I have always liked him, I inquired about him when I was Newcastle manager a couple of times and could not get him.
“But if he plays like that for 90 minutes he will get in every week. He has done himself no harm today.”
His introduction late into the second half saw his pace cause quite a bit of problems for the Spurs back line with his assist to Puncheon the key move which saw Palace gain a vital victory.
The club have now moved out of the relegation zone into 15th place, but with only three points separating them from bottom team Leicester City, they need to continue bringing in the points.
