Man United look on as long-term target dazzles

Toni Kroos showed Manchester United fans what they are missing last night with a dazzling display at Old Trafford, reports the Daily Star.

The Bayern Munich midfielder was linked with a move to Old Trafford in January following a contract dispute at the Allianz Arena, but the European Champions look set to keep a hold of him now.

The 24-year-old ran the show for Bayern in the middle of the park, showing the sort of style and quality Manchester United’s midfield has been missing for the majority of the season.

Kroos is yet to sign a new deal at the Allianz Arena, but after last night’s display you can’t help but feel he would have the pick of the top European clubs to sign for, should he decide to leave.

With Manchester United looking almost certain to miss out on Champions League qualification this season, Kroos is unlikely to consider a summer switch to Old Trafford any sort of possibility.

At the other end of the spectrum, £27million signing Maraoune Fellaini once again failed to impress during last nights tie.

The Belgian has struggled to settle at Old Trafford, and looked way out of his depth when competing against Kroos in the middle of the park.

How Moyes must wish the club had done more to try and force a deal through for Kroos in January.
