Manchester United are looking to beat Liverpool to the signing of Schalke star Leroy Sane to reinforce their attack, Express reports.
The 19-year-old has attracted interest from a host of European sides after picking up a number of impressive displays in the Bundesliga.
Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is believed to also be plotting a move for the winger, but could be halted given recent interest from their league rivals.
United manager Louis van Gaal recently revealed that he was looking to add more pace onto his flanks, with Sane now being considered as one possible candidate.
He was recently praised by Germany international manager Joachim Low for his displays as he is being valued by his club at around the £12million region.
“He is a player with a special gift and finesse, speed paired with technique and strong running – at just 19. He can make the jump with us very quickly,” he said.
The winger has so far featured in 12 league matches and four Champions League fixtures, scoring five goals while providing a further four assists (whoscored.com).
Sane only received his first call-up to the Germany national team earlier this month in a friendly against France.
