Manchester United star Michael Carrick is set to extend his stay at the club and is preparing to sign a new one-year contract to keep him at Old Trafford, according to reports from the Daily Mail.
The 33-year-old’s current deal will expire in June this year, and Louis van Gaal is already said to be planning to retain his services.
Carrick will also have the choice of extending his proposed one-year deal even more, as he will be given the opportunity to add another 12 months should he decide to continue his career at the club.
He is currently on wages of £130,000-a-week and has already expressed his desire to stay at the club he’s been at for almost eight years.
The midfielder has made 12 Premier League starts this season, despite picking up his second lengthy injury of the campaign.
He only returned from an ankle knock back in November, but is once again being benched due to a calf problem.
