Manchester United target William Carvalho has hinted that he is considering a potential move to join Arsenal, according to reports from the Express.
The 23-year-old has been tipped to leave current club Sporting Lisbon over the past few seasons and is also linked with Liverpool, Chelsea, and Real Madrid.
He was close to an exit over the summer, but after picking up an injury for Portugal in the European Under-21 Championships, all moves for his services were put on hold.
Carvalho admitted that he has always thought about the Gunners and is very fond of club legend Thierry Henry.
“I prefer not to say, but there is a club with which I’ve always empathised – Arsenal,” he said.
“Because of a player who was I very fond of, in this case I wear the number of him: Thierry Henry, a player with whom I always empathised too.
“Maybe this is why I look with more attention to the Premier League.”
His latest comment is sure to alert manager Arsene Wenger, who has made the defensive midfielder one of his top transfer targets.
The French boss has been looking for player that can provide friendly competition with Francis Coquelin over the past few campaigns and could now be close to securing his services.
He featured 42 times in all competitions for his side last term, scoring one goal while providing a further five assists.
