Man United not willing to sell Everton target until new additions arrive

Manchester United are not willing to sell Jonny Evans to Everton until they can ensure the signing of another centre-back, according to reports from the Daily Star.

The 27-year-old is being targeting by the Merseyside club in light of Chelsea’s interest in luring John Stones to Stamford Bridge.

United are still in the market to reinforce their backline, but are yet to confirm the addition of a world-class centre-back.

The only defensive player that has been added to the club is Matteo Darmian, who has been brought in to fill the right-back slot.

Manager Louis van Gaal is currently linked with a number of defensive names, but Real Madrid’s Sergio Ramos and Valencia’s Nicolas Otamendi are his two main targets.

However, with Real failing to secure the signing of top goalkeeping target David De Gea, it seems that they are now blocking a move for Ramos to head in the opposite direction.

Otamendi is also being heavily tipped to complete a switch to Old Trafford, but a formal announcement regarding his transfer is yet to be made.
