Manchester United are ready to match Pedro Rodriguez’s £22million buy-out clause to sign him from Barcelona this summer, according to reports from the Mirror.
Pedro has been heavily linked with a move away from the Nou Camp in recent weeks following a campaign in which he struggled for regular first team football playing behind the attacking trio of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, and Neymar in the pecking order.
And although Chelsea were thought to be interested, it is United who look set to sign the Spain international after executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward held talks with Barca when the two sides faced each other in a pre-season friendly.
Woodward has thus flown back to England and is prepared to meet Pedro’s release clause and hopefully complete a deal before the season kicks off on the 8th of August.
The 27-year-old will be seen as a direct replacement for Angel di Maria, who is close to sealing a move to Paris Saint-Germain.
