Manchester United are ready to beat Chelsea and Manchester City to the signing of Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola to replace Louis van Gaal, according to reports from the Daily Mail.
Guardiola revealed earlier this week that he will not extend his contract with Bayern at the end of the season, making him a top managerial target for clubs all over Europe.
Man City have been admirers of the former Barcelona boss for quite some time, and are ready to bring him in with Manuel Pellegrini also expected to depart after this term.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are also in the hunt after sacking Jose Mourinho last week, and want Guardiola to be his long-term successor.
However, amid the mounting pressure surrounding Van Gaal, Man United are now willing to let the Dutchman see out the season and make an approach for Guardiola to come in as his replacement next summer.
Mourinho was recently linked with United, but reports suggest that the board are reluctant to sign ‘the Special One’ due to his style of management.
