Manchester United have sent a scout to monitor Fiorentina star Borja Valero ahead of a potential January move, according to reports from the Metro.
Valero has become the latest name to be linked with a move to Old Trafford, with manager Louis van Gaal keen on bolstering his central midfield options.
According to German publication Blick, the Dutchman has therefore asked chief scout Peter Braund to assess the Spaniard, who has been an essential part of Fiorentina ever since arriving from Villarreal in the summer of 2012.
However, despite scouting the 30-year-old, a move for Valero to Man United could be difficult, given that the Viola man struggled during his first stint in England with West Bromwich Albion from 2008-2011.
Southampton are also interested in bringing Valero to the Premier League, as his time in Serie A could give Ronald Koeman’s young side a wealth of experience.
Last season, Valero made 42 appearances in all competitions for Fiorentina, scoring two goals and providing four assists.
