Manchester United are demanding that Paris Saint-Germain pay close to the full price of his record breaking transfer from Real Madrid, according to reports from the Express.
The 27-year-old struggled to replicate the form which earned him a move to Old Trafford and was eventually benched by manager Louis van Gaal towards the end of the previous campaign.
It is said that United’s executive vice chairman Ed Woodward met with PSG sporting director Olivier Letang earlier this week to discuss the terms of the potential switch.
However, Woodward is standing firm on his decision to get back most or all of the money they spend on the winger last summer, a factor that could eventually halt the transfer.
Van Gaal is believed to still be keen on seeing Di Maria remain at the club and prove his worth, but the player’s wife has been feeling unsettled ever since the move from Spain.
Despite speculation of a potential exit, the Argentina international is now set to join the squad on their US tour this weekend.
