Manchester United star Michael Carrick is adamant that the club can catch Chelsea and Manchester City in the race for the title, Express reports.
The England international is calling for his team-mates to keep their heads up after the Red Devils suffered a 1-0 home loss to Southampton over the weekend.
United are now 12 points off league leaders Chelsea, but Carrick believes with talented stars like Angel di Maria, Wayne Rooney, and Robin van Persie in the squad, they can turn things around starting from their trip to play Queens Park Rangers on Saturday.
He said: “For us, it is just about looking at ourselves and getting back to some sort of run and some sort of form that breeds momentum again, so that we are looking upwards and looking ahead again.
“You don’t want to be battling for third or fourth place, we want to be up there, right at the top and that is the challenge that we have got to set ourselves.
“You have to start again. I think regardless of the result, you have to start again from week to week. It is not going to knock us too much because we will learn from the mistakes.
“We are certainly disappointed but we will look to bounce back next week.”
Carrick missed a large chunk of the season with an injury he sustained in the summer, but recovered to help United go on a ten-game unbeaten streak until the loss to Southampton.
