Manchester United star Memphis Depay has come out to admit that he is struggling following his £25millon summer arrival from PSV Eindhoven, Mirror reports.
The 22-year-old was recently on the receiving end of criticism from the fans for his shooting during the 3-0 win over Shrewsbury on Monday.
He has now revealed that he will try his best to replicate the performance which earned him a switch to Old Trafford as he promises to improve on his displays.
“I haven’t yet lived up to everything people expected of me,” he said.
“I will fight to show what I can do. I have a lot of expectations of myself, and it will come – confidence and experience will help.
“You have to learn from your mistakes and keep working hard to improve.”
United will need Depay at the top of his game as they prepare for their Europa League second leg home tie against Midtjylland tomorrow after losing the first game 2-1.
The Red Devils will be without injured captain Wayne Rooney while David de Gea is still doubtful as manager Louis van Gaal heads into the match with 14 players unavailable.
Depay has already featured 33 times in all competitions for his side this term, so far managing to score six goals while providing another five assists.
