Manchester United star Adnan Januzaj has been criticised by Belgium Under-21 manager Enzo Scifo after he rejected the chance to represent his nation, Express reports.
The 20-year-old is currently on loan with Borussia Dortmund after losing his place at Old Trafford under current boss Louis van Gaal.
Scifo revealed that he was keen to see the winger represent the Under-21 squad during the international break, but after Januzaj snubbed the offer, he questioned his mentality.
“A 20-year-old player who gives this impression of non-motivation, it reflects a poor state of mind,” he said.
“I dislike that a player is not motivated. The U21s aren’t a pub team!
“When you’re 20, you have to be humble enough to understand that on your own. You can’t ask your dad or your agent if it’s a good choice or not.”
He was linked with the chance to represent England as well, but after he failed to meet the requirements, he eventually opted to play for Belgium.
However, due to the high level of competition in the squad, Januzaj only managed to make a total of five appearances since his debut back in 2014.
Things at Dortmund have also not gone too well for him since his arrival as he is yet to start a single Bundesliga match for his side this term, featuring five times out of a possible 12 matches from the bench (whoscored.com).
