Manchester United star David De Gea has revealed that he is happy at the club despite his recent summer transfer saga with Real Madrid, Express reports.
The 24-year-old was heavily linked with a switch to join the La Liga giants during the recent window, but has decided to sign a new deal after the move broke down.
It was also believed that he was looking to play down the last year of his previous contract in order to complete a free transfer back to Spain.
However, De Gea has now come out to admit that even though he had a tough summer, he is very happy to have extended his stay at Old Trafford.
“It was a long summer, a tough summer,” he said.
“But after it all, I am in a great club and I am very happy. I renewed my contract and I’m very happy. This is a great club and I hope everything goes well.”
The Spain international was benched in the early stages of the current campaign by manager Louis van Gaal, but was immediately called back into the first-team following his decision to stay.
He is now currently on international duty with his nation as they prepare for their Euro 2016 qualifiers against Luxembourg and Ukraine.
