Manchester United star Luke Shaw is hopeful that his team’s performances at Old Trafford will be key to ensuring a top four finish ahead of their rivals, according to reports from the Express.
Although United have been struggling in away games, they have so far picked up 10 wins out of a possible 13 home matches.
Shaw believes if the club can continue picking up points at home, they will be able to compete with the likes of Arsenal, Southampton, Liverpool, and Tottenham Hotspur, all of whom are battling for the last two Champions League spots.
“We always get that extra push at home from the fans and they’ve also been amazing away from home as well,” he said.
The mentioned clubs are all within a few points away from one another, and any negative result will be seen as a huge setback, especially going into the final 12 games of the campaign.
Last season, when David Moyes was in charge, a number of clubs came to Old Trafford and picked up all three points, making the once feared stadium no a longer a fortress.
However, the 19-year-old is confident the Red Devils can once again make their home ground a place that other clubs will fear.
“At home it’s always different – when teams come to Old Trafford they can feel that atmosphere and it can be a scary place for other teams.
“It’s a big pitch and United have always been strong at home and won a lot of games here so that’s a very important factor as well.”
