Manchester United star Michael Carrick rejected a mega money offer from China in hopes of earning himself a new deal at Old Trafford, The Sun reports.
The 34-year-old would be offered wages of about £6million-a-year if he accepted a switch to the Chinese Super League, but is instead favouring a new 12 month extension.
Carrick has been in consistent form under manager Louis van Gaal, featuring the full 90 minutes in the vital 1-0 victory over rivals Manchester City yesterday.
A host of high profile names have decided to swap European football for China in recent months, with Jackson Martinez, Ramires, and Alex Teixeira all completing earlier deals.
Despite speculation that United could part ways with Van Gaal during the summer, the midfielder is still hoping heavily-link boss Jose Mourinho would be open to his stay.
He has already featured 33 times in all competitions for his side this term, providing one assist so far, but is yet to register a goal.
