Manchester United star Robin van Persie has revealed that he is fit enough to play against rivals Manchester City this weekend, according to reports from Sky Sports.
Van Persie sustained an ankle ligament injury on February 21 during a 2-1 loss against Swansea City, and has since missed the last seven weeks of action.
The Dutchman was close to being ready for selection when United faced Aston Villa last Saturday, but manager Louis van Gaal believed his star striker was not ready.
However, Van Persie has confirmed his return to training by tweeting: “Back to training with the group today. Was a great session. Happy to be fit and able to play again. Looking forward to my next game!”
The Red Devils will face Man City in their next fixture, with the champions falling out of the title race after three losses in their last five games.
This has seen the Citizens also slip a point below United, who are now third on the table one point behind Arsenal.
Van Persie has played 26 games in all competitions this season, scoring ten goals.
