Manchester United playmaker Juan Mata will seek assurances over his future at Old Trafford following the appointment of Jose Mourinho, according to The Daily Mail.
The Portuguese trainer has been unveiled as the Red Devils’ new manager, taking over from the beleaguered Louis van Gaal at the culmination of the 2015-16 campaign.
Mourinho’s arrival could well be bad news for Mata, given that the pair have worked together at Chelsea in the past.
The diminutive Spanish wizard was a key player for the Blues but found himself then frozen out upon Mourinho returning to Stamford Bridge.
The former Real Madrid and Inter Milan coach went on to sell Mata to United, preferring to keep Oscar as his designated number ten.
The report suggests that Mata will look for clear-the-air talks with Mourinho ahead of next season and will look to ascertain what role he will play for United under the Portuguese’s stewardship.
