Manchester United’s Ashley Young is set to discuss a new contract after rediscovering his form under Louis van Gaal, according to reports from the Express.
The 29-year-old was tipped to be one of the names to leave Old Trafford when the Dutch boss took over, but having excelled in the wing back role, he has now earned a place in the squad.
Young, who signed for United back in the summer of 2011 for a fee £17million, only has one year left on his current deal and is looking to commit his future.
Having already made 13 appearances this season before picking up a hamstring injury, Young established himself as a regular pick and revealed his delight at the way he has been performing this season.
“I think this season has so far gone as well as it could have gone for me, bar the injuries. I’m happy about that and hopefully we can continue with good results as a team,” he said.
Despite struggling to perform under former manager David Moyes, Young’s improvement and versatility along the flanks is likely to reward him with a new Red Devils contract.
